Welcome to UNI Base Program
Mission
The
main goal
is
to enhance remote sensing education at various
levels in Iowa through a) introducing and enhancing existing remote
sensing
curriculum in higher education, community colleges, and K-12, b)
creating a
research opportunity for graduate and undergraduate students in remote
sensing
application areas, and c) providing training and workshops in remote
sensing topics
for private and public agencies in Iowa.
A.
Education: to enhance existing
remote sensing curriculum
·
Promote undergraduate and
graduate remote sensing
education at UNI.
·
Introduce remote
sensing education to community colleges and high school students
(grades 10-12).
B.
Research: research
opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students
in remote sensing application areas:
·
Support collaborative
interdisciplinary remote sensing application research
efforts with other departments at
UNI (Biology, Earth Science, Computer Science, Center for Energy and
Environmental Education [CEEE], and others on the campus) and state
agencies
such as Iowa DNR, IDOT, etc.;
·
Promote research
collaboration between undergraduate and graduate students with NASA
scientists.
C.
Outreach Activities: to
support remote sensing related outreach
activities
·
Develop advanced remote sensing education
and training or workshop programs that are tailored to the
needs of local and state government agencies and
private sectors;
·
Transfer remote
sensing data to educational institutions at all levels, public agencies
(local
and state agencies), and the private sector in Iowa;
·
Seek external funding
from programs such as NSF CCLI and Infrastructure grant, NASA Climate
